China - Uzbekistan's leader in mutual trade turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19

China has become the leading country among Uzbekistan's partners for mutual trade turnover for January through May 2020, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The volume of trade turnover for the mentioned period amounted to $2.3 billion.

Russia follows China with $2.2 billion, Kazakhstan is third ($1.1 billion), followed by South Korea ($943.5 million), Turkey ($709 million) and Kyrgyzstan ($302.8 million).

One-third (35.4 percent) of foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan falls on the CIS countries. Their share has been growing in recent years, the report says.

Gold remains the main the country's export which was sold for $1.6 billion in the first five months of 2020. Also Uzbekistan exported industrial goods ($924.9 million), services ($879.5 million), food products and live animals ($421.2 million).

The volume of fruit and vegetable products exports amounted to over 542,400 tons (over $305.1 million). The main export markets for fruit and vegetable products are Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.

Uzbekistan imported most goods from China ($1.6 billion), Russia ($1.5 billion) and South Korea ($926 million).
