Iran discloses volume of dates export

Iran exported 238,000 tons of dates worth $211 million to 83 countries in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), Spokesman for Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

Latifi noted that the export of Mazafati dates amounted to 98,300 tons worth $103 million and accounted for 49 percent of all dates export.

The official added that Iran exported 10,000 tons of Mazafati dates worth $9.3 million to Pakistan, 8,350 tons worth $7.85 million to the Kazakhstan, and 7,570 tons worth $8.68 million to the United Arab Emirates.

According to him, the export of Iran's Zahedi dates amounted 27,400 tons worth $22.3 million and the product was exported to more than 34 countries.

“Iran exported 17,200 tons of Zahedi dates worth $13.6 million to Pakistan, 4,560 tons worth $4.3 million to Afghanistan and 1,470 tons worth $1.16 million to Turkey,” he said.

Latifi stressed that export of Shahani dates amounted to 13,900 tons worth $4.63 million. India, the UAE and Denmark were the top three countries in terms of this type of dates export.

The spokesman said that the export of Estemeran dates amounted to 13,500 tons worth $6.49 million. The dates were mainly exported to the UAE, Kazakhstan and Turkey.

“The export of Kabkab dates amounted to 13,100 tons worth $11.8 million. The dates were mainly exported to Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Iraq,” he said.

Latifi added that Iran exported 2,700 tons of Piarom dates worth $8.77 million, and the main importers were the UAE, Malaysia and Bangladesh.

"The export of other dates' varieties and related products amounted to 69,000 tons worth $53.8 million. Those dates and products were mainly exported to Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Turkey," he noted.

According to the 6th Development Program (2016-2021), Iran should export $5 billion worth of agricultural products a year. The share of dates export in this program accounted for $500 million. Iran exported dates worth $400 million in the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019).
