BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

About 5 million tons of mining products were extracted in Iran's Isfahan Province during first three months of the current Iranian year (March 20-June 20, 2020), Chairman of Industry Mine and Trade Organization of Isfahan Province Iraj Movaffagh told reporters, Trend reports.

Despite US sanctions against Iran and other economic problems, more than 20 percent of the mining products have been exported from the province, the chairman said.

Movaffagh added that there are 860 mines in Isfahan Province, and so far, a total of 1,300 licenses have been issued in the mining sector.

The chairman said that Isfahan Province ranks first in Iran in terms of the number of active mines and third in terms of extraction of mining products.

Movaffagh noted that 100 types of products worth $2.6 billion were exported from Iran's Isfahan Province to 40 countries in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 20, 2020).

The US imposed new sanctions on Iran in November 2018. Over the past period, the sanctions affected Iranian oil exports as well as more than 700 banks, companies and individuals.
