TEHRAN, Iran, June 24

Trend:

Iranian government can solve the economic problems, as the export volume has increased in recent months and the exporters are advised to return the foreign currency revenues to the country, said Iranian President.

"I am aware that people face problems these days, and fluctuation of commodity price exerts pressure on them, but we have the power to surpass the situation," said Hassan Rouhani, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"The conditions were very difficult in February and March due to the coronavirus spread and closure of borders when exports stopped and it was difficult to import. The situation has improved during May and June, and today we have both import operations and export revenue," the head of state added. "The non-oil export volume significantly increased from May 21 to June 21 compared to previous months."

"I am certain that the Central Bank of Iran is able to address the foreign currency issue; the truth is that the problems are partially associated with psychological pressure and adversary propaganda," the president said.

"The exporters should increase export, and the government is ready to help them and remove obstacles. The country's political and economic sectors make efforts to expand export," he added. "Exporters should return foreign currency revenues back to the country; according to the law, if anyone avoids doing so, the Central Bank of Iran will react and announces the names of those who violates the law."

"The judiciary will also deal with those who violate the rules, and the government does not let any specific group abuse the non-oil export procedure for their own benefits," Rouhani stressed.

"Iran's non-oil export during last Iranian year [started March 21, 2019] was around $41 billion, and the foreign currency revenue helped to carry import operations. Currently, there is no shortage of basic goods in the country and the government is determined to control commodities," the head of state noted.
