Kazakhstan leading among importers of agricultural products from Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan exported 719,000 tons of agricultural products worth $415 million in the period from January through June 2020), Trend reports citing the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan.

Uzbek fruits and vegetables have been shipped to 59 countries, with vegetables accounting for the bulk of Uzbek exports (451,200 tons worth $144.4 million).

During the reporting period, Uzbekistan exported 138,700 tons of fruits worth $143.3 million. Exports of legumes and grapes reached 50,000 tons worth $49.8 million and 28,700 tons worth $32.2 million respectively.

Furthermore, 4,400 tons of nuts worth $13.1 million were exported, and the volume of melon shipments amounted to 4,400 tons worth $2.3 million.

Kazakhstan was the main imported of Uzbek vegetables and fruits. For the first six months, the volume of exports to Kazakhstan in monetary terms amounted to $130.2 million.

Products worth $106.8 million were shipped to Russia and $70.8 million to Kyrgyzstan, said the report.

Afghanistan purchased agricultural products from Uzbekistan in the amount of $24.2 million. The volume of supplies to China amounted to $13.4 million and to Pakistan $12.3 million.

Recently, Uzbekistan has received phytosanitary permission to export fruit and vegetable products to Myanmar and Ghana.

Uzbekistan also plans to obtain phytosanitary permits for exporting cherries to Thailand and Indonesia, grapes and melons to the USA, pomegranates, apples and plums to Egypt, pomegranates and apples to India, grapes to South Korea, and nectarines, plums and apricots to China.

Earlier in 2020, Korea Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency issued a permit for six Uzbek companies to supply fresh cherries to the market of South Korea: Gold Dried Fruits Export (Tashkent city), JV Uz-Segang (Fergana region), Brand Investment Group Agro LLC (Andijan region), Pure Fruit Trade LLC (Namangan region), Namangan Agro Logistics LLC (Namangan region) and Samarkand Garden Plast LLC (Samarkand region).
