Iran's Mobarakeh Steel Company’s plants to be put into operation

Iran's Mobarakeh Steel Company will put into operation 8 plants over the next 5 years (until March 21, 2024), Chairman of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) and Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Khodadad Gharibpour said, Trend reports citing the IMIDRO.

Gharibpour emphasized that 909 million euros and 100 trillion rials (about $2.38 billion) will be spent on the construction of these plants.

He added that Mobarakeh Steel Company's hot rolled plant No. 2 is one of these plants. With the commissioning of this plant, the company's production of this product will reach 7.2 million tons per year.

The chairman said that it is planned to spend 255 million euros and 43.2 trillion rials (about $1.02 billion) on the construction of these plants.

“In addition, the first phase of the iron ore concentrate plant of the Sangan Iron Ore Complex (SIOC) was commissioned in the third month of current Iranian year (May 21-June 20) and will produce 2.5 million tons of products a year,” he said.

According to him, the second phase of the plant will be commissioned in the summer. A total of 150 million euros and 7.5 trillion rials (about $178 million) were spent on the construction of the plant.

The deputy minister stressed that another plant in which Mobarakeh Steel Company is a shareholder is the plant of Sefid-Dasht Steel Company in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province. The plant will produce 800,000 tons of slabs a year.

"There is 84 percent progress in the construction of the plant and it is planned to put it into operation in the current Iranian year. About 95 million euros and 15 trillion rials (about $357 million) were spent on the construction of this plant," he said.

Gharibpour noted that a plant for the production of graphite electrodes in the Ardakan county of Yazd Province will be commissioned in the current Iranian year. More than 95 million euros were spent on the construction of this plant.

“The construction of a plant that will produce 400,000 tons of billet a year in the Andimeshk county of Khuzestan Province, increasing the production capacity of the slab production plant in Hormozgan Province from 1.5 million tons to 2 million tons per year, the construction of a plant in Hormozgan Province that will produce 1.2 million tons of plates a year are include to the 3 planned plants,” he said.
