Turkmenistan and Russia are preparing to sign a contract on a program of economic cooperation of two countries for 2020-2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia told Trend.
The above-mentioned program will determine priority areas of cooperation in energy, transport, construction, and agriculture, noted the ministry.
The ministry also pointed out that Turkmenistan’s cooperation with Russia’s regions is important in the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries. In particular, high level of cooperation is noted with such Russian regions as Astrakhan, Republic of Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, and others.
"In order to further expand cooperation between the regions of the two countries, the possibility of concluding an intergovernmental agreement on promoting interregional cooperation is being considered," the ministry added.
In general, the intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation and its high-level group on trade and investment support an important role in the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
"Regularly organized by Russian and Turkmen relevant ministries, departments and companies, meetings via videoconference allowed to maintain a high level of business contacts even in an unfavorable epidemiological situation," the report says.
The Ministry noted that about 30 agreements were signed between the countries to develop trade and economic cooperation.
"Trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan, which is the most important component of bilateral relations, is characterized by multidimensional and progressive development," the ministry noted.
