Uzbekistan starts supplies of melons to Latvia

Latvian ELBI company has organized the first supplies of melons grown in Mirzaobod district of Syrdarya region (Uzbekistan) to the Latvian market, Trend reports with reference to Dunyo News Agency.

The melons were exported by Red Pack LLC, which is one of the reliable suppliers of Uzbek agricultural products to the European market.

"In the near future, ELBI intends to increase the volume of melon imports up to 200-300 tons per week," the message said.

The diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Riga city has noted a significant increase in trade and economic ties, the intensification of business contacts between Uzbekistan and Latvia, active promotion of ties towards greater cooperation.

In particular, it is planned to launch the Uzbek-Latvian Business Cooperation Council in the near future, the founders of which will be Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, and the Latvian Employer’s Confederation of Latvia.

Latvian ELBI company is one of the largest importers of fruits and vegetables to the European market. It carries out forwarding to shops, supermarkets in Riga and other regions of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

It supplies from European producers, as well as from Argentina, South Africa, Chile, Egypt and other countries that use advanced growing technologies.
