Iran discloses export of pistachios

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23

Iran exported 21,700 tons of pistachios worth $154 million during first three months of current Iranian year (March 20-June 20, 2020), Spokesman for Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

Latifi emphasized that Iran exported 5,500 tons of pistachios worth $35.4 million to China.

He added that Iranian pistachios were exported to 54 countries, including Germany, (2,980 tons), Iraq (1,860 tons), Russia (1,450 tons), and Kazakhstan (1,120 tons).

The official said that the main countries for export of pistachios in 2019 were US ($1.56 billion), Iran ($586 million), Hong Kong ($303 million), Germany ($112 million) and Turkey ($52.3 million).

“The main countries for the imports of pistachios in 2019 were Hong Kong ($726 million), Germany ($359 million), China ($241 million), Vietnam ($190 million), Belgium ($180 million) and Luxembourg ($180 million),” he said.

According to him, Iran is one of the largest producers of pistachios in the world, and pistachios are one of the most valuable agricultural products in Iran.

Iran exported 2.7 million tons of agricultural products worth $1.69 billion during the first four months of current Iranian year (March 20-July 21, 2020). The export of agricultural products increased by 30.4 percent in terms of volume and 6.8 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last Iranian year.
