BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 29

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The researches show that Iran has the potential to export $150 million worth of clothing to Iraq annually, said director general of Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) of Iran’s Arabic-African Affairs Office Farzad Piltan, Trend reports citing the organization.

He made the remark at the meeting dedicated on increasing Iran's exports of clothing to Iraq, investigating and resolving problems.

Piltan emphasized that Iraq imports about $700 million worth of clothing a year.

He added that however, Iran currently exports about $35 million worth of clothing to Iraq annually.

The director general noted that there are several reasons for Iran's low clothing exports to Iraq.

"The main reasons are that insufficient recognition of the Iraqi market by Iranian businessmen, Iraqi businessmen do not recognize the potential of Iranian producers, lack of direct contacts between businessmen of the two countries, lack of price competition, lack of strategies of Iranian enterprises for the production of export-oriented products," he said.
