Uzbekistan increases cotton oil production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 3

Production of vegetable oil in Uzbekistan decreased by 9.5 percent in the first half of 2020 compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to 96,200 tons, Trend reports citing nuz.uz.

From January through June 2020, the largest volume fell on refined cotton oil, the production of which increased by 11.2 percent compared to the same period 2019 and reached almost 92,500 tons.

Sunflower oil and soybean oil were produced in much smaller volumes (141.3 and 520.4 tons respectively), whereas production of peanut, linseed and olive oil in Uzbekistan has completely stopped.

Furthermore, the production of margarine decreased by 73.8 percent to 13,500 tons, mayonnaise by 73.5 percent to 830 tons and butter by 99.9 percent to 23.1 tons compared to the same period of 2019.

To date, 25 oil enterprises with a total design capacity of over 2.5 million tons of vegetable oil, margarine, mayonnaise and other products are operating in Uzbekistan.
