EU announces third cycle of agricultural grant competition in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The European Union (EU) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) announced the third stage of a grant competition to support agricultural initiatives in Georgia, Trend reports with reference to the EU.

The third grant cycle will run until September 30, 2020.

As reported, applications are accepted under the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).

The objectives of the EU-funded grant initiative are to improve access to finance, services, equipment and inputs for farmers, rural households, cooperatives and other small and medium enterprises in rural areas.

These improvements are expected to contribute to increased competitiveness of the agricultural sector and better livelihoods for people living in rural areas. In this cycle, applications requesting a matching grant for the purchase of just one tractor will be handled with priority.

Grant applications should be submitted online, and handwritten applications will not be accepted. All applications received during the first and second grant cycles are still under review.
