Turkmenistan announces planned volume of wheat harvest next year

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered to harvest 1.4 million tons of wheat in 2021, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal information portal.

The head of state signed a corresponding decree instructing the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan to sow wheat throughout the country.

The wheat will be sown on the 690,000 hectares of land allocated for this purpose.

Like last year, Turkmenistan is allocating state land for wheat production to enterprises. Furthermore, the state provides seeds as well as mineral fertilizers and means on preferential terms for combating agricultural pests.

Agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetables and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agro-ecological characteristics of the country's regions.

In recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables, fruits as well as enlarged areas for perennial plants, vineyards and greenhouses.
