Azerbaijan hikes production of building gypsum

Building materials worth 426.7 million manat ($251 million) were produced in Azerbaijan from January through July 2020, which is 4.8 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the data of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

From January through June 2020, the production volume of building gypsum amounted to 10,700 tons, building bricks – to 290,900 cubic meters, indicating an increase of 19.7 percent, and the production volume of ready-mixed concrete increased by 6.5 percent and amounted to 1 million tons.

The volume of production of processed marble, travertine and alabaster and their products made up 13,250 tons, down 38.6 percent, prefabricated concrete structures – 19,800 cubic meters, a decrease of 25.6 percent.

Moreover, a twofold drop was observed in production of asphalt - to 90,600 tons and cement - by 2.7 percent during the reporting period.

The decrease also was observed in the production of building blocks and bricks made of cement, artificial stone or concrete – 27,600 tons, showing the fall of 37.6 percent.
