Turkmenistan increases fruit imports from EAEU countries

Turkmenistan increased imports of apples, pears and quinces from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) by 2.6 times from January through June 2020 compared 1H2019, Trend reports, citing statistics from the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Apples, pears and quinces were exported to Turkmenistan from the EAEU countries in the amount of 206 tons for a total of $63,628.

The exporters of the fruits to Turkmenistan were Kazakhstan and Russia. The share of Kazakhstan in the total amount of exports was $15,398, while Russia’s share was $48,230.

In addition to apples, pears and quinces, Russia exported 3 tons of grapes totaling $2,256 to Turkmenistan during the reporting period.

In 1H2020, Russia also exported to Turkmenistan 5 tons of other varieties of fruit worth $1,720 and almost 10 tons of dried fruit mixed with nuts or other fruits worth $14,360.
