TEHRAN, Iran, Aug.24
Trend:
The relations between Iran and Venezuela are based on national interests of the two countries and do not concern any other country, these relations have improved in recent years," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said, Trend reports via IRNA.
The statement came following Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro speaking on buying missiles from Iran.
"We haven't received any requests in this regard," said Khatibzadeh.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday said it would be a “good idea” to look into buying missiles from Iran, a day after Colombia said Venezuela was considering such a plan amid growing ties between Caracas and Tehran.
He then spoke about Iran's relations with Russia.
"Iran and Russia's relations have entered a strategic stage that should be drafted properly, to progress based on a strategic partnership," he said.
"Iran's cooperation with Russia is cohesive, multidimensional and deep," he said.
