The preparations for cotton harvesting have already been completed in Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz region, which will start on September 16, 2020, Trend reports with reference to “Zolotoy Vek” (Golden Age) newspaper.
It is planned to collect at least 275,000 tons of cotton from 155,000 hectares of land in the region, the report says.
Thus, 9 cotton cotton-cleaning enterprises, 43 receiving points and laboratories for checking the quality of raw materials are ready to receive the crop.
Also, special agricultural machinery is ready for harvest, in particular, 156 combines of the John Deere brand and cotton harvesters of the MX-1,8 brand of Uzbek production.
Some 1,832 units of trucks and tractors with trailers will be used for transportation.
Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruits.
The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agro-ecological characteristics of the country's regions.
Special attention is paid to increasing the volume of products in Turkmenistan. As a result, in recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables and fruit and berries and enlarged the area of perennial plants, vineyards and greenhouses.
