Revenues from paid services in Azerbaijan down

Revenues from paid services to the population of Azerbaijan decreased by 24 percent from January through August 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, and amounted to 4.37 billion manat ($2.57 billion), Trend reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection as a result of restrictions on the travel of citizens between regions and cities of the country, in March, April, May, June, July and August of this year, there were serious reductions in passenger traffic.

"In the first eight months of 2020, carriers served 844.4 million passengers. Some 92.1 percent of passengers were transported by road, 7.7 percent - by metro, and the rest - by other means of transport," the committee said.

Legal entities rendered services to the population in the amount of 3.31 billion manat ($1.94 billion), which is 75.8 percent of the total cost of services, said the report.

According to the report, the total cost of paid services of state enterprises in the reporting period amounted to 1 billion manat ($588.2 million), private structures - 3.35 billion manat ($1.97 billion).

At the same time, each citizen of the country, on average, used various paid services in the amount of 438.5 manat ($257.9) or 137.2 manat ($80.7) in nominal terms less compared to the same period of last year, the committee added.
