TEHRAN, Iran, Sept. 30

Trend:

The deputy head of Iran Ports and Maritime Organization Farhad Montaser Kouhsari announced that the negotiations have been held with the neighboring countries to activate two-container shipping lines in the Caspian Sea in order to move the containers on the Astrakhan route to Iran`s Anzali, Nowshahr and Amirabad ports.

Referring to the details of discounts for shipping containers in the northern ports, Kouhsari said that these discounts only include shipping containers and exclude the container and non-container cargo ships, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Non-container ships will not be included in the announced discounts in any way, otherwise all ships crossing over the Caspian Sea will be subject to these discounts," he explained.

Kouhsari stated that the purpose of offering discounts is to increase the traffic of container ships.

He went on to announce a 35-percent discount for export of refrigerated containers.

"For example, if the ship carries 50 containers, only two of which are refrigerated and the rest are ordinary containers, they will still be subject to discounts,” he explained.

Kouhsari went on to say that Iran suffers from shortage of warehouses at its northern ports, and the container ships could be used as warehouses.
