Iran's nuclear technology improves despite limitations

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.11

Trend:

Iran's nuclear technology has improved due to limitations caused by the sanctions, said former head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Reza Amrollahi, Trend reports via IRNA.

"While the European countries' experts left the Bushehr Nuclear Plant project, the domestic experts took over," he said.

"It can be claimed that about 70 percent of Iran's nuclear industry is handled locally by young experts," said Amrollahi.

"Each country should have diverse energy sources and Iran should supply at least 10 percent of its power via nuclear energy," he said.

"The target to produce 20,000 megawatt nuclear power is a good outlook that should be expanded," he added.

"There have been exploration for uranium mines throughout years, and finally we are starting to see the results. There have been big steps taken to locally enrich uranium up to 5 percent that is allowed by the International Atomic Energy Agency and NPT. The enrichment is fuel for nuclear plants," he said.

"Nuclear energy management should be boosted and more experts should be hired, without politicizing the subject," Amrollahi said.

"We are seeking to have nuclear power and medicine so why it should be political, we want to produce radioactive medicine," he said.
