Turkmenistan, France interested in diversifying partnership

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan and France are interested in diversifying their partnership, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

This was stated during a meeting between President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Turkmenistan Isabelle Guisnel.

Thus, Turkmenistan seeks to develop relations with France both in a bilateral and multilateral format, including within the framework of the European Union.

Contacts have been established between Turkmenistan and major French companies that are actively involved in the successful implementation of social and economic development programs in Turkmenistan.

The sides identified priority areas of cooperation, key vectors of which were identified as the fuel and energy sector, trade and economic sphere, communications, ecology, water management, urban development, etc.

The sides stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in science, culture, education, health, as well as in sports, tourism and other areas.

As the French Foreign Ministry told Trend earlier, France is interested in developing relations with Turkmenistan in all areas.

"Economic cooperation is a priority," the French Ministry said.

The countries signed a two-year cooperation plan in April 2019.

"The plan is being actively implemented, an example of which is the bilateral political consultations held via videoconference on June 5," the ,inistry stressed.
