Kazakhstan's Almaty launches production of environmentally-friendly batteries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 30

By Nargiz Sadikhova – Trend:

New line for the production of storage batteries was launched at the Kainar-AKB plant in Kazakhstan’s Almaty region, Trend reports citing International Green Technologies & Investments Center (IGTIC).

The project was implemented within the framework of the memorandum for cooperation between Kainar-AKB and the IGTIC.

The used technology expands the possibilities of using old batteries in the manufacturing of new products. The battery housings will be completely made from secondary raw materials, which are processed on a new modern line of Italian production with complete neutralization of the electrolyte using a production treatment plant.

The new technological line will reduce the negative impact on the environment, as it is equipped with local cleaning filters.

The launch of the new line will make it possible to increase the production capacity to 3.7 million batteries per year. Currently, the plant produces 2.5 million units of batteries per year.

The modernization of one of the largest processing enterprises became possible thanks to the financial support of Operator ROP company. Kainar-AKB plant receives compensation payments from the company for the collection, processing and disposal of used batteries.

The plant plans to continue the stage by stage entrance to the Chinese and European markets, increase sales to 3.7 million units per year, and develop new types of starter and stationary batteries.
