Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development addressed the Chabahar - Zahedan railway project with 627 km of the main route and about 100 km of sidelines as one of the most important and strategic railway projects in the country.
"The government, in line with the orders of the Supreme Leader, sets a goal to connect five provinces to the rail network,” Minister Mohammad Eslami told reporters on the sidelines of the railing ceremony of the Chabahar-Zahedan railway project on Wednesday, Trend reports citing IRNA.
He said that seven railway projects are currently underway in the country.
"The most important of them is the Chabahar-Zahedan railway, the railing construction of which started today from Chabahar and three months ago mechanized railway construction started from Zahedan,” he said.
The Minister of Roads and Urban Development referred to the Khaf-Harat railway project adding that the Khaf-Harat railway, which is one of the international projects connecting the country's railways to Afghanistan, will be inaugurated in late November with the presence of senior officials of the two countries.
“Yazd-Eghlid, Miyaneh-Ardabil, Hamedan-Sanandaj, Rasht-Caspian port and Isfahan-Shahrekord railway projects are among the remaining railway projects that will be put into operation by the end of next Iranian year (end on March 21, 2022).
"Chabahar Airport City is one of the approved projects. The problems that have arisen in this project are being addressed and will be resolved soon,” he noted.
According to IRNA, the construction of the Chabahar-Zahedan railway began with the presence of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, the Commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Construction Headquarter, the Governor of Sistan and Baluchestan, and a group of officials.
