Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Embassy in Singapore and Singapore’s Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd discussed introduction of a cluster system for cotton production in the Fergana region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Dunyo information agency.

Uzbek diplomats held a number of meetings and negotiations with the director of the Singapore company Prakash Kejriwal and discussed issues on expanding the company's activities in Uzbekistan.

Kejriwal agreed with the opinion on the prospects of expanding the activities of Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd, taking into account the positive experience of similar projects being implemented in the Syrdarya and Kashkadarya regions within the framework of organizing production in the form of cotton and textile clusters.

During the online meeting between Kezhriwal and the governor of the Fergana region Khairulla Bozorov, the Singaporean side presented a detailed presentation on the implementation of the Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd project for organizing production in the form of a cotton-textile cluster in the Kashkadarya region with the introduction of advanced agrotechnical methods of processing and irrigation of agricultural lands using modern technology, high-quality fertilizers and analysis of laboratory data soils, which ultimately ensured a high yield of the project areas.

Kejriwal proposed to consider the possibility of providing Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd with agricultural land in Besharyk, Uzbekistan and Dangara districts of the Fergana region for the introduction of a cluster system for sowing and picking cotton with its subsequent processing on the basis of Indorama Kokand Textile JSC.

Bozorov made a detailed presentation of the modern economic and investment potential of the Fergana region, and also expressed interest in jointly with Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd the implementation of a cluster system for growing cotton.

The system provides for the introduction of Best Cotton Initiative international standard, which allows increasing the export opportunities of Uzbekistan, as well as ensuring the attractiveness of the Uzbek market for large foreign manufacturers of finished textile products.

An agreement was reached on sending preliminary proposals to Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd for the implementation of a project for organizing a cluster system for growing cotton in the Fergana region for consideration.
