Private agriculture firms urged to step up activities in Turkmenistan

Private firms specializing in the agro-industrial sector and engaged in the production of agricultural products should become more active in Turkmenistan, said Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

The president said about the need to boost the activities of the above-mentioned private firms during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.

Meanwhile, the president instructed to increase the pace of work carried out by the members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the country, stressing that they will continue to receive adequate support.

He also noted that it is necessary to increase the output of export-oriented goods.

Agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agroecological characteristics of the country's regions.

Special attention is paid to increasing the volume of products in Turkmenistan. As a result, in recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables and fruit and berries and enlarged the area of perennial plants, vineyards and greenhouses.
