TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.11
Trend:
Iran tire industry is expected to produce 20 million tire rings for vehicles by the end of the current Iranian year(started March 20, 2020), said the spokesman of the Iran Tire Producers Association.
"Iran tire industry has produced 12.5 million tire rings from the start of the current Iranian year until September 22 that indicates 26 percent growth comparing to the same time in the last Iranian year (started March 21, 2019)," said Mostafa Tanha, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"If the positive approach continues, it would be possible to produce 20 million tire rings by the end of the current Iranian year. The country annually produces 360,000 radial tire rings for cargo trucks and there is no problem in production," he said.
He went on to say that Iran has imported tire valued $500 million in the last Iranian year that was for cargo vehicles that were more than the country's need. On top of that Iranian companies are seeking to reduce imports and increase production.
"It is expected that a new tire factory in Birjand with an annual production capacity of 230,000 rings would be built and so far part of production pieces of machinery has been purchased, while Artaville tire factory in Ardabil with a production capacity of 300,000 rings is to operate and produce radial tire," he added.
"The country's annual need for radial tire is 1.2 million rings and if new factories would operate the number of produced tires would be 900,000 rings in next Iranian year," he noted.
According to Tanha Iran's tire production companies have increased production since the last Iranian year despite sanction pressures.
