A total of 16 trillion rials (about $380 million) worth of loans were issued in Iran for the purchase of agricultural machinery during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2020), Director of the Iranian Agricultural Equipment Development Center Kambiz Abbasi said, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran.
However, about 15.2 trillion rials (about $362 million) worth of loans was estimated to issue in Iran during the reporting period.
The director noted that as a result of the loans, 14,000 tractors were delivered to the farmers. At the same time, 4,000 units of seeder machine will also be delivered to the farmers.
Abbasi added that these loans are issued to farmers at 3 percent for 5-7 years.
“A total of 120 trillion rials (about $2.86 billion) worth of loans have been issued for the development of agricultural machinery during the current Iranian government (which has been in power since August 2013),” he said.
Abbasi stressed that about 140,000 tractors, 3,800 combine harvesters, and 300,000 units of various agricultural pieces of machinery were delivered to farmers at the expense of the issued loans.
