Production of Iran’s Sefid Dasht Steel Company increases

The sponge iron production of the Sefid-Dasht Steel Company in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province (southwestern Iran) increased by 12.2 percent during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Mehrdad Ghasemi, Deputy Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Trend reports citing the organization.

The deputy chairman stressed that the company produced about 545,000 tons of sponge iron within the reporting period.

Ghasemi added that while in the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 22 through November 20), the company produced about 75,200 tons of sponge iron.

“It is estimated that the company will produce 800,000 tons of sponge iron by the end of the current Iranian year (until March 21, 2021),” he said.

A plant is being built at Sefid Dasht Steel Company that will produce 1 million tons of steel a year. As reported, there is 85 percent progress on the construction of the plant.

About 65 percent of Sefid Dasht Steel Company shares belong to Mobarekeh Steel Company and 35 percent to Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
