The European Union familiarized Turkmenistan with modern methods and innovations in greenhouse management, seed selection, seedling cultivation, development of fertilizer programs, irrigation, disease, and pest control, as well as key aspects of greenhouse management, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.
The introduction was held during an online seminar on growing vegetables in greenhouses and key aspects of greenhouse management, held within the framework of the European Union Project on promoting further sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas in Turkmenistan.
During the seminar, opportunities for greenhouse production of citrus fruits were considered. Special attention was paid to the phytosanitary requirements for the export of fruit and vegetable products to the EU countries.
There were also discussions on the prospects for the development of greenhouses in the world and in Turkmenistan, as well as opportunities for expanding productive cooperation.
Participants of the seminar noted that greenhouse production is actively developing in Turkmenistan due to reforms in the agricultural sector.
Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, and fruits.
