Iran’s NICICO enlarges copper production

The National Iranian Copper Industries Company’s (NICICO) copper anode production increased by 9 percent and copper cathode - by 6 percent during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2020) compared to the production plan, Managing Director of the company, Ardashir Sad Mohammadi said, Trend reports referring to the company’s official website.

Sad Mohammadi noted that the NICICO produced a total of 235,000 tons of copper anode and 183,000 tons of copper cathode over the reporting period.

He added that at the same time, the company’s copper anode production increased by 16 percent and copper cathode - by 6 percent within 8 months compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The director emphasized furthermore, the NICICO produced 804,000 tons of copper concentrate in the first eight months of the current Iranian year.

According to Sad Mohammadi, copper concentrate production increased by 6 percent compared to the plan. Thus, 761,000 tons of copper concentrate were to be produced in the plan.

“The NICICO extracted a total of 118 million tons of mining ore during 8 months. This is an increase of 3 percent compared to the plan,” he said.

The director added that the company also extracted 35.6 million tons of sulfur stone in eight months. This is an increase of 3 percent compared to the plan.
