TEHRAN, Iran, Dec.7

Trend:

Iran's Ardabil Province is expected to increase trade with Azerbaijan, head of Chamber of Commerce in Ardabil province, Behrouz Poursoleyman told Trend.

"One of the issues in Iran's trade with Azerbaijan is that Iran's cargoes are unloaded in Azerbaijan's customs checkpoints and are loaded onto Azerbaijani trucks," Poursoleyman said.

"Despite this, roads to Azerbaijan were open during the coronavirus spread and the trade continues," he said.

"The export volume of Ardabil Province to Azerbaijan during the first seven months of current Iranian year(started March 20,2020) was $75 million while the volume in same time during last Iranian year (started March 21,2019) was $67 million," he said.

"The province's major exports to Azerbaijan were glass, potatoes, plastic, constructional materials , biscuits and tile," he said.

"The province's imports from Azerbaijan have not changed and statistics remain the same as in the previous years," he said.

"We expect an increase of export in the four remaining months of the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020). The export was considerable since last month and we expect at least a 50-percent increase, compared to previous years and hope the tonnage would also increase by 50 percent," he said.
