Details of Iran's trade turnover with ECO member states announced

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 17

Iran's foreign trade turnover with Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states amounted to 10.9 million tons worth $5.76 billion during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through November 20, 2020), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

According to Latifi, Iran exported 7.43 million tons of goods worth $2.94 billion to ECO member states within the reporting period.

Latifi added that the exported goods were mainly liquefied gas, oil products, fish, shrimp, tomatoes, greens, fruits, flowers and ornamental plants, saffron, sweet stuff and etc.

“Iran exports most of its goods between ECO member states to Afghanistan, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, respectively,” he said.

The spokesman emphasized that moreover, Iran imported 3.48 million tons of goods worth about $2.82 billion from ECO member states over the first eight months of the current Iranian year.

“The imported goods were mainly raw materials, yarn, cotton, barley, flax seeds, lentils, beans, medical equipment, various chemical acids, industrial and agricultural equipment, and so on,” he noted.

The Economic Cooperation Organization has 10 members. These are Turkey, Pakistan, Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan.
