Iran talks about date for depletion of mining reserves

Iran's current mining reserves are enough for a maximum of 14 years, Iranian Mining Engineering Organization, Chairman of Iranian Mining Engineering Organization, Taghi Nabi said, Trend reports citing the organization.

According to Nabi, if Iran uses its mining reserves in accordance with world standards, it can earn several times more than oil revenues.

The chairman added that Iran’s mining sector can be developed with proper investments.

Iran has 50 billion tons of mining reserves, at present. It is planned to increase this figure by 20 percent to 60 billion tons in the current Iranian year(from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021).

A total of 410 million tons of mining materials were extracted in Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

This figure will increase by 25 percent in the current Iranian year. The growth will be mainly in the area of iron ore, copper, steel, lead, zinc and gold.
