Iranian companies already express interest in working in Azerbaijan's liberated Karabakh

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec.28

Trend:

Iran is determined to take part in reconstruction of Azerbaijan's Karabakh region, following the country's successful military campaign to liberate its lands from Armenian occupation.

"Iran is following up on the issue and has already created an independent committee on the topic," Secretary general of Iranian Exporters of Technical and Engineering Services Organization Bahman Salehi Javid told Trend.

"It is possible that Iran would send a delegation to Azerbaijan next week to review the interested projects and we would send our request," he said.

However, if Iran doesn't receive the needed support, Russia, Turkey and China may take over, he said.

"Iran could have significant role in reconstruction of Karabakh due to geographical location and common cultural, religious beliefs with Azerbaijan, alongside common technological and industrial aspects," said Javid.

He went on to add that Iranian companies are seriously interested in participating in technical and engineering work in Karabakh.

"Unlike other destination countries, Azerbaijan has oil reserves and sources of revenue, so therefore it has less risk (for transactions) and could be a proper destination market for Iran's services," Javid said.

"We don't have all the information, but as the secretary general of Iranian Exporters of Technical and Engineering Services I can speak with knowledge of several companies that expressed their interest in working in Karabakh," he said.

"In various business from design and engineering, to supply of equipment , producers of technical and engineering services and contractors of technical and engineering projects we could participate in reconstruction of Karabakh," he said.
