The capacity of Iranian ports will exceed 600 million tons over the next 10 years (until 2030), Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Mohammad Rastad said, Trend reports citing the organization’s portal.
The chairman emphasized that the organization has a number of plans in this regard.
Rastad added that it is possible to achieve this figure with economic growth of 5 percent per year.
The deputy minister noted that the establishment of a new port on the Makran coast of Sistan and Baluchestan Province (southwestern Iran) is among these plans.
"Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization will focus on the construction of this port in its comprehensive plan for 2026. The capacity of this port is to be 150-200 million tons," he said.
