The areas for wheat planting in Iran have reached 6.14 million hectares in the current planting year in Iran, Executor for the wheat plan of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran, Esmaeil Esfandiaripour told Young Journalist Club (YJC), Trend reports.
The official emphasized that while in the last year, this figure was 5.98 million hectares.
Esfandiaripour added that the volume of planted wheat increased by 38 percent in accordance with the increase in the volume areas.
“Thus, 430,000 tons of wheat were planted in the current planting year in Iran. However, 310,000 tons of wheat were planted in the last planting year,” he said.
Iran has produced 13.7 million tons of wheat this year. About 8.23 million tons of it was purchased by the Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran under a guarantee
