Main export-import data between Turkmenistan, Spain published

Official statistics for the first 10 months of 2020 reflect 24,81 million Euros in exports from Spain to Turkmenistan (a 3.4 times increase as compared to the same period in 2019) and 1,32 million Euros in imports from Turkmenistan to Spain, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain told Trend.

Mainly in 2020, Spain exported to Turkmenistan wood (64,5 percent), furniture(3,8 percent), and electric components (12,2 percent)., while imported fertilizers (95 percent) and cotton.
In addition, the ministry said, that Turkmenistan also supplied oil to Spain.

Also, the ministry said that the most significant trend of 2020 between Turkmenistan and Spain has been a modest increase in trade.

“As has been the case with all our partners, restrictions to mobility and a reduced economic activity have had an impact on bilateral economic relations,” said the ministry in terms of COVID-19 impact on cooperation.

As earlier, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain told Trend, the main Spanish companies cooperating with Turkmenistan are: “IBERTEST - Laboratories for the testing of train materials; IDOM - Engineering applied to energy, water, and urban development; INDRA - Systems for the management of transport and cities; TALGO - Trains; REPSOL - Oil exploration; TÉCNICAS REUNIDAS - Engineering applied to petrochemical and fertilizer complexes; TYPSA - Engineering and architecture applied to water, transport, urban infrastructures, environment, and renewable energies.”

The ministry also revealed some details of trade turnover with Turkmenistan. In particular, the ministry noted that in the first 8 months of 2020 Spanish exports to Turkmenistan were worth 8.9 million euros.
