Kazakhstan’s Baikonur Cosmodrome has begun preparatory work for the implementation of space programs in 2021, Trend reports referring to Kazinform.
According to the press service of Russian Roscosmos, deactivation of the Progress MS-16 transport cargo vehicle and the Soyuz MS-18 manned transport vehicle is being carried out in the cosmodrome's assembly-and-test building under the International Space Station (ISS) program. Spacecraft launches under the Russian ISS program are scheduled for the first half of the current year.
In total, Roscosmos plans to carry out at least 16 launches from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in 2021.
The next launches are expected to take place in February. So, the launch of the Progress MS-16 space truck is scheduled for February 15, 2021, and the launch of the Arktika-M spacecraft - for February 28.
On April 9, 2021, it’s planned to launch the Soyuz MS-18 manned transport vehicle with the next expedition to the ISS.
