Iran plans to increase fish exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 3

Iran plans to increase the exports of fish and fishery products to $660 million in the next Iranian year (March 21, 2021 to March 21, 2022), Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jihad and Chairman of the Iran Fisheries Organization Nabiollah Khon Mirzaei said, Trend reports citing the organization.

According to the deputy minister, the exports of Iran’s fish and fishery products amounted to $539 million in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

Khon Mirzaei added that it is projected that the value of Iran’s fish and fishery products exports will reach $538 million in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021).

The chairman stressed that about 526,000 tons of fish and fishery products were grown in Iran in the last Iranian year. This figure is expected to increase to 712,000 tons in this year and 811,000 tons by the end of next Iranian year.

As reported, Iran's fishery products exports amounted to 114,000 tons worth $399 million during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through January 20, 2021).
