Several ships to be launched in Iran

As many as 86 ships for the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) will be launched in the next six months, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the PMO, Mohammad Rastad said, Trend reports citing the organization’s portal.

According to Rastad, there 26 ships are currently being built in Iran and the building of 60 ships will be launched by the end of the current Iranian year (until March 21, 2021),

He added that the volume of services in Iranian ports will increase in the near future with the addition of these ships and new equipment to the existing potential of Iranian ports.

The deputy minister noted that the ships will be gradually handed over to the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization as of next Iranian year (March 21, 2021).

As reported, on Jan. 24, the chairman of PMO said that 83 ships will be produced in Iran by the end of the current government (August 2021).

On Jan.23, two contracts worth 3.9 trillion rials (about $93 million) were signed in Iran for the construction of 10 pilot boats.
