Iran boosts value of exports through Khorramshahr customs checkpoint

The exports of Iran through the Khorramshahr customs checkpoint of the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) increased by 255 percent in terms of value during the first 10 months of the current year (March 20, 2020 through January 20, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Khorramshahr Customs Office Ali Soleimani said, Trend reports citing Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

The director general emphasized that 1.92 million tons of goods worth $627 million were exported through Iran's Khorramshahr customs within 10 months.

“The exported goods were mainly fruits and vegetables, dairy products, construction materials, organic and inorganic chemicals, heat-resistant cotton, rubber products,” he added.

Soleimani noted that these goods were mainly exported to Iraq, Kuwait, the UAE, Turkey, India, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

According to him, in addition, 84,600 tons of goods worth $267 million were imported through Khorramshahr customs over the 10 months. The imports increased by 1 percent in terms of value and 24 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The customs official said that at the same time 14,500 tons of goods worth $45.1 million were transited through Khorramshahr customs during the reporting period.

Soleimani stressed the revenues of the Khorramshahr customs office amounted to 2.49 trillion rials (about $59.3 million) in the 10 months, which is an increase of 22 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
