Kazakhstan reports increase in agriculture yield year-on-year

The overall sowing area in Kazakhstan amounted to 22.5 million ha in 2020, which is 2 percent more than in 2019, Trend reports citing the Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

This includes 15.8 million ha allocated for rice (3.1 percent more than in 2019), 2.9 million ha for oilseeds (1.5 percent more), 163,600 ha for vegetables (2.8 percent more), and 194,400 ha for potatoes (0.7 percent more).

The gross harvest of cereals (including rice) and legumes in weight after processing increased by 15.1 percent in 2020 compared to 2019 and amounted to 20.06 million tons. The harvest of vegetables increased by 4.9 percent to 4.3 million tons, of melons by 1.8 percent to 2.4 million tons, of potatoes by 2.4 percent to 4 million tons.

At the same time, the gross harvest of oilseeds decreased by 1.1 percent and amounted to 2.5 million tons.

The yield of cereals (including rice) and legumes in weight after processing increased by 12.3 percent and amounted to 12.8 centners per ha. The vegetables yield increased by 2.1 percent, melons by 1.8 percent, of potatoes by 1.6 percent.
