Russia's Rosselkhoznadzor discloses volumes of agricultural products supplied to Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 5

Some 1,250 tons of vegetables were supplied from Georgia to Russia from January through February 2021, Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) told Trend.

According to the source, tomatoes (371.11 tons) and cucumbers (156.5 tons) were mainly shipped.

"From January through February 2021, 9,700 tons of fruits were delivered from Georgia to Russia. Mainly, apples, pears, quince (5,030 tons), as well as citrus fruits (4,500 tons) were sent," the Rosselkhoznadzor noted.

According to the source, in February 2021, 125,000 tons of Russian agricultural products were delivered to Georgia. Mainly wheat and meslin (68,800 tons), as well as corn (39,000 tons), and sunflower oil (3,300 tons) were sent to Georgia.

In 2020, the foreign trade turnover between Georgia and Russia exceeded $1.32 billion, which comprises 11.7 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.

During the reporting period, Georgia exported products worth $441.07 million to the Russian market, which is 13.2 percent of total exports.

Meanwhile, Russian exported products worth $887.1 million to the Georgian market, which is 11.1 percent of total imports to Georgia.
