Volume of dry-farming land in Iran increases

The volume of dry-farming land under wheat in Iran increased by 3.2 percent in the current planting year, compared to last planting year, Executor of the wheat plan of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran, Esmaeil Esfandiaripour said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

The official said that wheat was planted on 4.15 million hectares of dry-farming land.

Esfandiaripour added that in total, wheat has been planted on 6.15 million hectares of land in Iran.

“A total of 430,000 tons of wheat were planted in this year. While in the last year, 310,000 tons of wheat were planted in Iran,” he noted.

Reportedly, Iran has produced 13.7 million tons of wheat in this year. Of this, about 8.23 million tons were purchased by the Government Trade Corporation of Iran (GTC) under a guarantee.
