Kazakhstan reports decrease in gold and currency reserves

The gross international reserves of Kazakhstan’s National Bank amounted to $34.7 billion in Feb. 2021, bank’s preliminary data said, Trend reports with reference to the National Bank.

According to the data, the value of the country’s international reserves decreased by 2.3 percent compared to last month and by 2.5 percent less than as of the end of 2020.

“International reserves overall, i.e. including the foreign currency denominated assets of the National Fund ($57.6 billion) equaled $92.3 billion as at the end of Feb. 2021,” the report said.

Net foreign exchange reserves of Kazakhstan also decreased by 2.3 percent in a month (decrease by 2.5 percent compared to December 2020), and equaled $34.2 billion.

In turn, the assets in freely convertible currency have increased by 1.4 percent compared to Jan. 2021 and increased by 3.4 percent compared to Dec. 2020, which has amounted to $12.4 billion.

The country’s assets in gold amounted to $22.2 billion in Feb. 2021, which is 4.3 percent less than in Jan. 2021 and 5.6 percent less than as of the end of 2020.
