Turkmenistan’s Balkan shipbuilding yard names production indicators

"Shipbuilding and repairing yard "Balkan" open joint-stock company restored 7 ships, including those belonging to foreign companies in two months of 2021, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan: Golden Age electronic newspaper.

More than 80 vessels have been repaired, 20 of them have been overhauled since the establishment of the company (May 2019). It is planned to widely use the production facilities for the construction of new ships and the development of the country's merchant fleet in the future.

In general "Shipbuilding and repairing yard "Balkan" is expanding cooperation with domestic and foreign companies.

The cooperation is developing in accordance with the memorandums of cooperation in the field of repair and shipbuilding signed with Tatarstan's Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation of Russia with Turkey’s Derya Group Mekanik Inşaat Taahhüt Tersane ve Tic. A. Ş. company, also Russian United Shipbuilding Corporation as well as with the Korea-Marine-Equipment-Research-Institute (South Korea).

"Balkan" also works closely with local companies, in particular, the company provides them with warehouse and office space, as well as rents out equipment.

Also, work continues on the certification of specialists and the shipyard itself. It is planned to complete the implementation and certification of the quality management system following the international standard ISO 9001: 2015, which will allow the plant to successfully compete in the field of shipbuilding with foreign enterprises.

As reported, for the end of August 2020, 24 vessels have been repaired, 7 more vessels have been repaired of medium complexity, and 23 vessels have undergone inter-ship repairs since the commissioning of the Balkan Shipbuilding and repairing yard in Turkmenistan.

The Balkan plant has installed a system for launching and repairing vessels with a capacity of 10,000 tons a year and has created opportunities for the production of oil tankers, offshore platforms, tugs, boats, as well as various types of steel structures, equipment, and tools for the industrial sectors.
