Iran's trade turnover with Turkmenistan down

The trade turnover between Iran and Turkmenistan decreased by 49 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), Trend reports citing the statistics of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI).

According to the statistics, the trade turnover between Iran and Turkmenistan amounted to 794,000 tons worth $156 million last Iranian year.

So, Iran exported 728,000 tons of goods worth $136 million to Turkmenistan last Iranian year. This is a decrease of 52 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year, the statistics said.

“Moreover, Iran imported 65,000 tons of goods worth $20 million from Turkmenistan over the last Iranian year. The imports of Iran from Turkmenistan decreased by 6 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year,” the statistics said.

While in the 12th month of last Iranian year (February 19 through March 20, 2021), the trade turnover between Iran and Turkmenistan amounted to 138,000 tons worth $23.5 million. Trade turnover increased by 51 percent compared to the same month of the preceding Iranian year, according to the statistics.

Iran exported 135,000 tons of goods worth $21.8 million to Turkmenistan in the 12th month of last Iranian year. The exports increased by 64 percent compared to the same month preceding Iranian year, the statistics said.

“In the 12th month, Iran imported 2,900 tons of goods from Turkmenistan worth $1.71 million. This is a decrease of 22 percent compared to the same month preceding Iranian year,” the statistics said.
