The area of agricultural lands in Iran equipped with modern irrigation systems has reach 2.47 million hectares during the current government in Iran (which has been in power since 2013), the Minister of Agriculture Jihad of Iran Kazem Khavazi said, Trend reports citing the IRINN.
He made the remark in an event dedicated to the launch of a number of agricultural facilities in Iran today on Apr. 22.
The minister emphasized that however, before the current government in Iran came to power, the area of agricultural lands Iran equipped with modern irrigation systems was 1.29 million hectares.
Khavazi added that the increase in agricultural areas equipped with modern irrigation systems has resulted in increased production.
“In general, the projects launched in previous years have been completed today, and 4,630 operations have been carried out in this regard. A total of 81.3 trillion rials (about $1.93 billion) has been spent on these projects. Thus, about 42,300 people have been employed,” he said.
