Georgia sees increase in volume of new mortgages - TBC Capital

The volume of new mortgages increased 5 times on April 1-19, compared to the same period of 2020 in Georgia, Trend reports via the report on the dynamics of economic recovery published by TBC Capital.

According to the report, despite this growth, the market volume still lags behind the levels of 2019 as the market declined 19.2 percent.

However, the number of apartment transactions in Tbilisi has increased compared to 2020 and 2019 as well.

"As for the number of transactions, from April 1 to 15, residential transactions in Tbilisi increased by 11.5 percent compared to 2019," TBC Capital report says.

Mortgage loans in Georgia were subsidized to 8,443 borrowers within the frame of the mortgage subsidy program.

The total loan portfolio is 827.94 million lari ($251.8 million).

The average amount of one subsidized loan is 98,063 lari ($29,834).
