By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

A new greenhouse will be built in the Mary region of Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan information portal.

The greenhouse will be built on 50 hectares of land for growing bananas and citrus fruits.

The construction is carried out by local 'Miweli Ulke' company, which also continues the construction of cold storage facilities with a volume of 10,212 tons.

Turkmenistan has previously prepared a project for the construction of new greenhouses for growing bananas and citrus fruits.

According to the projects, the greenhouses will be furnished with innovative equipment using modern irrigation methods. Thus, it is planned to conduct tests on the cultivation of bananas, as well as tangerines, oranges, and other citrus crops.

As reported, the first harvest of bananas was held last year in the same greenhouse, where almost 50 tons of bananas were collected.

There are other exotic fruits growing in Turkmenistan. For example, in the greenhouse of the Turkmen Agricultural University, fruits of exotic papaya were cultivated.
